Adventures in Outlining

I have spent the last part of last week working on the outline for the middle part of my book. It’s cool how a story can take shape out of seemingly thin air. I had a few ideas of where it was going, and I picked out some major scenes that I knew would get me there. Then I went back and worked on how we would get to those scenes.

And outlining showed me that I had something missing. My character was discovering this new world and progressing along, but there was no true plot and particularly no true antagonist. So I’ve been working on fixing that, and let me tell you, fixing something like that in outline form is a whole lot easier than trying to do it with the whole novel in front of you.

So hopefully I will overcome this obstacle and get back to the story part of the story!
