War and Peace Saturday: Chapters 290-296

This will be short because I found this section pretty boring…

There’s a new battle fought–or at least attempted to be fought. The only characters involved are generals and other minor characters, and the only interesting thing that happened was that, as in all the battles, there is terrible miscommunication that makes the battle go all wrong. Things like this make it clear why the military has been the technology pioneers–they desperately needed better systems.

And we are told that next Napoleon makes the worst possible decision in his war, one that ensures his army will starve, etc. Even though it takes the format of history lecture, I choose to keep it literary and call it foreshadowing.

Hopefully next week will be better. I miss my regular characters! But (assuming I’ve been counting right this whole time) I will make it to the 300’s next week!
